India, May 19 -- At least 13 people died and 25 others were injured on Monday after a tempo truck ferrying guests to an engagement party collided with a trailer truck on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad national highway in Maharashtra's Palghar district, officials said. The tempo truck was plying on the wrong side of the highway when it rammed into the trailer truck, they said. "The tempo driver likely wanted to avoid the long detour, so navigated the vehicle onto the wrong side of the highway, resulting in the accident," senior police inspector Amar Patil said. Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis later announced Rs.5 lakh ex gratia for the families of the deceased.P8
