12 blos died in k'taka since s.i.r commenced: ceo
BENGALURU, July 25 -- Twelve booth level officers (BLOs) deployed for Karnataka's Special Intensive Revision exercise have died since the exercise began on June 30, chief electoral officer (CEO) V Anbukumar said on Friday.
"There is no provision under the Election Commission's guidelines to provide compensation to the families of BLOs who die while on duty," he said, and added that he was unaware of the causes of death.
Deaths were reported in multiple districts. Bhuvana, a village administrative officer supervising BLOs, was killed on Saturday in a road accident in Tumakuru district while travelling for SIR- related work.
