India, Aug. 13 -- I've reached a point where, if a pair of shoes requires too much effort to put on, I probably don't want them.

Between running around for work, heading to dance classes, squeezing in walks and generally being on my feet more than I'd like, I've become slightly obsessed with slip-on shoes. There is something incredibly satisfying about being able to step into your shoes and leave the house without wrestling with laces.

But convenience alone isn't enough. I've learnt that a good everyday slip-on needs three things: a comfortable fit, enough cushioning for long hours and a breathable upper. If it looks great but starts hurting after an hour, it isn't making it into my regular rotation.
