India, April 12 -- Afra Eisma, 33, has shown her work around the world, including at the Tetley in Leeds in 2023 and at the recently concluded Kochi-Muziris Biennale. Her work is currently on display at the Museum of Art & Photography (MAP) in Bengaluru. Accessibility is a key aspect of her art, Eisma says. "Colour creates instant engagement across audiences." Once drawn in, viewers begin to notice embedded texts and narratives that reveal the darker undercurrents of the work. The exhibition currently on display at MAP, titled warrior garments, features a series of imagined attires that serve as an exercise in contrasts: silk and organza, layered with intense expressions in hand-painted text.
