India, May 29 -- Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will look into the allegations levelled by Trinamool Congress lawmaker Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar's against fellow TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee, people familiar with the matter said.

According to a senior functionary, the Speaker is expected to look into the issue before deciding whether to refer it to the Lok Sabha's privileges panel.

"We have received a one-page letter from TMC MP Dastidar. The Lok Sabha Speaker will look into the issue. He will decide whether to refer the issue directly to the privileges committee or first seek a response from both sides," said a senior functionary.
