India, Aug. 25 -- Former IPS officer Kiran Bedi on Monday condemned the dowry death in Uttar Pradesh's Noida, where a 28-year-old woman was set on fire by her husband and in-laws over dowry demands.
Kiran Bedi called the accused, victim's husband, "a beast and a beggar", adding that "a lot of families are producing literate beggars".
She recalled a viral video of victim's son narrating the chain of events and said, "In this dowry death case of Nikki in Greater Noida dowry death... the child also said that 'papa ne mumma ko mara [father hit mother]'... So what more evidence do we want?... The father and sister of the girl have said that they were constantly demanding dowry..."
