India, May 3 -- The Foreign Ministry on Sunday released a statement in response to Nepal's objection to India's plans to conduct the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra via Lipulekh. In its statement, the ministry said that India's position has been 'consistent and clear.' It said that the Lipulekh Pass has been the long-standing route for the Yartra and is not a new development.
Regarding the territorial claims of Nepal, the ministry said that India has maintained that these claims are "neither justified nor based on historical facts and evidence." "Such unilateral artificial enlargement of territorial claims is untenable," it said.
