'No central bar on Tamil anthem being sung first'
Bengaluru, Aug. 19 -- The Madras High Court on Tuesday said the Union government's latest notification on the sequence for singing the National Song, National Anthem and state songs does not prevent Tamil Nadu from singing Tamil Thai Vazhthu first at government functions.
A bench comprising Chief Justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari and justice G Arul Murugan recorded the Centre's clarification that its July 9 notification only prescribes the sequence between Vande Mataram and the National Anthem. It requires Vande Mataram to be sung before the National Anthem when both are rendered at the same function.
