NEW DELHI, July 23 -- A painting titled Karam Kshetra-Field of Deeds has been removed from the army chief's lounge in South Block, people familiar with the matter said on Wednesday. The artwork had replaced a painting depicting the signing of the Instrument of Surrender following the 1971 Liberation War. Its removal in December 2024 sparked questions within sections of the defence establishment. The Karam Kshetra painting has now been replaced by the Indian Army emblem, the people said.
