India, Aug. 12 -- Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran has stepped down from his post and will not be seeking an extension of his tenure beyond February 2027. Chandrasekaran announced the move on Wednesday as he cited lack of board approval for his reappointment. This comes amid tensions with the charity arm that controls the salt-to-aviation Tata Group

In a statement detailing the move, Chandrasekaran said the Tata trust had unanimously recommended the extension of his tenure for another five years after his term was due to end in February 2027. However, 'in absence of unanimous support', Chandrasekaran said he was deferring the decision.
