India, Aug. 14 -- India captain Shubman Gill is looking forward to leading the side in the first Test against Sri Lanka at Galle starting Saturday. The match has extra significance as it's the team's 600th in the longest format.

Gill addressed the media on the eve of the match and said it was a matter of great pride for him that he was leading the team in its 600th Test and that too on the nation's Independence Day on August 15.

"Any Test match that you captain for your country and any Test match that you lead for your country. Obviously, leading my country in our 600th Test match is a big honour and privilege for me and doing that on Independence Day, it is even more special for us."
