'Full compensation, correct behaviour by US': Iran's new demands to open Strait of Hormuz amid West Asia conflict
India, Aug. 9 -- Iran has presented a list of new demands to ensure reopening the Strait of Hormuz, a key trade waterway which has been a major point of contention in the ongoing war between Iran and the United States. Reopening of the Strait of Hormuz is essential for a peace deal between both sides.
Iran has said that it will not open the strait, which is effectively under its control currently, till the US "corrects" its behaviour.
The new demands, put forth by Iran's Supreme National Security Council, was published by the state media. The statement was issued by the council's secretary, Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr, who is also a commander in Iran's Revolutionary Guard.
