Panchkula, Aug. 24 -- A Panchkula woman has alleged that her husband was falsely presented to her family as a BA graduate before marriage, while he had studied only up to Class 5, leading her family to agree to the marriage and spend lakhs of rupees on the wedding functions.

The allegations are part of an FIR registered at Pinjore police station on August 22 against the woman's husband. She also levelled allegations against the accused's sister and another woman who allegedly acted as a marriage mediator. A case has been registered under Sections 85 (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) and 316(2) (criminal breach of trust) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
