India, June 19 -- Amid the ongoing defection buzz in Shiv Sena (UBT), party chief Uddhav Thackeray on Friday offered to resign while addressing supporters and party workers in Mumbai.

"I am not someone who will run away in the face of challenges, but if you don't have trust in me, I am willing to step down," Uddhav said while addressing party workers on Shiv Sena's 60th foundation day on Friday.

Uddhav alleged that the BJP was trying to finish-off his party and said the country was moving towards "one party, no election".

The remark comes even as six Sena UBT MPs are expected to split from the party and support Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena. The six MPs were also missing from the Friday's event.
