India, Aug. 22 -- The Supreme Court told the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Friday to "accept 11 documents or Aadhaar card" from people for the Bihar Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, adding that the entire exercise should be voter friendly.
The Supreme Court was hearing pleas over the contentious Bihar SIR exercise, under which the EC is revising the electoral rolls in the poll-bound state and has asked for 11 documents, which exclude Aadhaar, from the persons who have been excluded from the lists.
The EC on Monday, August 18, came out with the names of 65 lakh people who were removed from the draft electoral rolls published as part of the SIR exercise.
