Goa, Aug. 31 -- Elon Musk's latest policy shift at X is set to face a significant test in India, where the social media platform's commitment to greater transparency could come into conflict with the country's legal framework governing government-ordered content restrictions.

On August 15, Musk outlined X's new approach to government censorship, saying that restrictions imposed following government demands would now be made clearly visible to users. Instead of silently withholding content because of a local legal order, X said it would inform users when a government had sought its removal, identify the agency involved and, where possible, disclose the legal basis for the action.
