India, April 3 -- A woman in her 30s was allegedly assaulted by an unidentified intruder inside her residence in Macherla, police officials said. The incident reportedly took place on Thursday afternoon when the woman, a government employee, was alone at home.
According to preliminary findings, the accused gained entry to the house between 3:30 pm and 4:00 pm under the pretext of asking for drinking water. Once inside, he allegedly overpowered the woman, restrained her, and threatened her with a knife before committing the assault. Police added that the attacker tied her hands and inflicted further harm before fleeing the scene.
