Goa, Sept. 20 -- Ajit Agarkar's departure as chairman of the BCCI selection committee came after differences reportedly emerged over several issues, including the future of Rohit Sharma and disagreements with Centre of Excellence head VVS Laxman, according to a report by Press Trust of India.

Agarkar's exit comes less than a year before the 2027 ODI World Cup, with Indian cricket entering a period of transition. Rohit, who stepped down as India's ODI captain after the 2025 Champions Trophy, remains available as a player in the 50-over format.
