Goa, June 25 -- The Ministry of External Affairs' (MEA) recent clarification that an Indian passport is primarily a travel document and not conclusive proof of citizenship has sparked widespread discussion across the country. The issue gained attention after Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal questioned what documents Indians can rely on as proof of citizenship if a passport does not serve that purpose.While passports are among the most important documents held by Indian citizens, experts point out that their legal role is often misunderstood.
