Goa, May 8 -- Vijay is expected to take oath as the next Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on May 9, even as suspense continues over the final numbers required for government formation. The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam emerged as the single-largest party in the Assembly elections by winning 108 seats in the 234-member House but still remains short of the majority mark.
Sources said Vijay met Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar at Lok Bhavan in Guindy on Friday amid indications that the Governor may invite him to form the government. Support from CPI, CPI(M), the Indian National Congress and other regional parties has strengthened TVK's position, taking its effective strength closer to the required numbers.
