Goa, May 25 -- Krishna Salkar on Monday launched pre-monsoon desilting and deweeding works of nullahs, channels, and key waterways across Vasco through the Water Resources Department as part of flood prevention measures ahead of the monsoon season.

Speaking at the inauguration held at Khapreshwar Temple in Belabai, in the presence of Girish Borkar, local residents, and WRD officials, Salkar said timely desilting activities along with the construction of new nullahs and cross drains at critical locations would help Vasco achieve zero flooding for the fourth consecutive year.

Officials from the Water Resources Department assured that all flood-prone areas in Vasco would be addressed before the onset of the monsoon.
