Goa, Nov. 5 -- In a significant development following the fire at Vasco's Sunday Market, Mormugao Municipal Council Chief Officer Siddhivinayak Naik has been transferred and directed to report to the Personnel Department.

Margao Municipal Council Chief Officer Madhu Narvekar has been assigned additional charge of the Mormugao Municipal Council.

Naik's transfer comes shortly after he issued notices to several old and dilapidated buildings in Vasco, raising concerns over their structural condition and safety.

The development comes in the aftermath of the Sunday Market fire, which has brought renewed attention to building safety and municipal oversight in the port town.
