Vasco Fish Vendors Boycott New Market Over Drainage Issues; Congress Warns of Road Blockade
Goa, July 15 -- Fish vendors at the newly inaugurated Vasco fish market vacated their allotted premises and resumed selling fish outside the market on Tuesday, alleging that the facility has been inundated with drainage water, making it unsuitable for business.
The protesting vendors claimed that persistent drainage problems have created unhygienic conditions inside the market, forcing them to shift their operations outdoors until the issue is resolved.
Supporting the vendors, a Vasco Congress leader criticised Mormugao MLA Krisha Salkar and councillor Shami Salkar, stating that despite conducting nearly ten inspections of the market, they have failed to resolve the drainage problem.
