Goa, Oct. 8 -- The United States has suspended several major Indian IT companies, including Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Wipro and HCL, from the country's Permanent Labour Certification Program (PERM), citing alleged abuse of the system used by employers to sponsor foreign workers for permanent residency.

The action by the US Department of Labour also reportedly covers other major technology companies, including Microsoft and Adobe, amid federal investigations into alleged violations of the programme.
