Goa, June 8 -- Tsunami waves reaching up to three feet have struck parts of the Philippine coastline following a powerful 7.8-magnitude earthquake that rocked the country on Monday, prompting widespread safety measures and regional alerts.

Philippine President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has urged residents in vulnerable coastal areas to immediately move to higher ground as a precaution against potential tsunami threats.
