Goa, May 9 -- Margao Town Police have registered an FIR against a man from Uttar Pradesh for allegedly intoxicating and sexually assaulting a woman at a hotel near the Margao Railway Station and extorting more than Rs.16 lakh from her.

According to police, the accused allegedly befriended the woman and later took her to a hotel near the railway station, where he is suspected to have intoxicated and sexually assaulted her.

Investigators said the accused allegedly extorted over Rs.16 lakh from the victim over a period of time through threats and coercion.

Based on the woman's complaint, Margao Town Police registered a case and launched an investigation into the allegations. Police are currently gathering evidence and recording statements...
