Goa, Aug. 4 -- Leader of Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin was arrested by the Tamil Nadu Police on Tuesday after a case was registered against him over an alleged double-meaning remark that has been widely interpreted as referring to actress Trisha.

The controversy erupted after Stalin made the remark while criticising Chief Minister Vijay over the ongoing Cauvery water dispute. His comments sparked outrage, with critics alleging that they carried an inappropriate insinuation directed at the actress.

Earlier, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) had also lodged a complaint against Stalin with the National Commission for Women, seeking action over the alleged objectionable remarks.
