Tulsi Gabbard quits as intelligence chief in major blow to Donald Trump administration
Goa, May 23 -- Tulsi Gabbard has resigned from her role as Director of National Intelligence in the administration of Donald Trump, saying she wants to step away from public service after her husband was diagnosed with an extremely rare form of bone cancer.
Gabbard informed President Trump of her decision during a meeting in the Oval Office on Friday. Her final day as head of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) is expected to be June 30.
In her resignation letter, Gabbard said her husband, Abraham Williams, had recently received the diagnosis and she could no longer continue in such a demanding role while he battles the illness.
