Trump Says It Would Be 'Unfair' to Deny Iran Ballistic Missiles if Regional Powers Possess Them
Goa, June 19 -- US President Donald Trump has stirred debate by suggesting that it would be unfair for Iran to be denied ballistic missiles if other countries in the region are allowed to possess similar weapons.
Speaking to reporters in Paris on Wednesday, Trump said that military capabilities should be viewed in the context of regional balance, noting that several Middle Eastern nations already maintain ballistic missile arsenals.
"I'm saying that if other countries have them, it's a little bit unfair for them not to have some," Trump said.
Referring to Gulf nations such as Saudi Arabia and Qatar, he added, "If Saudi Arabia and Qatar, and they all have some, I would say in relative proportion, I think it's okay."
