Goa, June 5 -- The political crisis within the Trinamool Congress (TMC) appears to be deepening, with signs that the rebellion which began in the West Bengal Assembly may now be spreading to Parliament. According to sources, several TMC MPs are in touch with the camp led by rebel MLA Ritabrata Banerjee, raising speculation about a possible split within the party's parliamentary ranks.

The development comes days after a significant section of TMC legislators broke away from the party's legislative fold and staked claim to the post of Leader of Opposition in the Assembly. Sources now suggest that dissatisfaction is also growing among some Members of Parliament, particularly over the functioning of the party leadership.
