Up until a few months ago, most of us had not even heard the name Tukaram Haribhau Mundhe. Yet today he is a household name particu larly in Maharashtra. He is in fact an IAS officer of the 2005 batch, who grew up working on his fami ly's subsistence farm and sold vegetables. As a child, he would walk barefoot to his Zila Parishad High School. The difficulties of his early life inspired him to join the Indian Admin istrative Service. He holds a Master's Degree in Polit ical Science and in 2004, and cleared the UPSC Civ il Service Aptitude Test, securing the 20th rank in the country; without any coaching.
