Tarun Tejpal Conviction: Trial Court Erred Despite Strong Evidence, Says Goa Advocate General
Goa, Aug. 6 -- Goa Advocate General Devidas Pangam> has defended the conviction of former Tehelka editor-in-chief Tarun Tejpal, stating that the trial court had "completely erred" despite evidence proving the prosecution's case beyond reasonable doubt.
Speaking after the Bombay High Court convicted Tejpal in the 2013 rape case involving a junior colleague, Pangam said the trial court's acquittal was based on assumptions about the survivor's character rather than the evidence placed on record.
He described the High Court's verdict as "a judgment based on justice and the evidence on record," adding that it had brought solace to the survivor.
