Goa, Sept. 25 -- The Supreme Court has issued notice to the Goa government on a plea filed by former Tehelka editor-in-chief Tarun Tejpal challenging the Bombay High Court's judgment convicting him in a 2013 rape case and sentencing him to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment.

The matter was heard by a bench comprising Justice M.M. Sundresh and Justice Prasanna B. Varale on September 24.

Tejpal had approached the Supreme Court challenging the August 6 judgment of the Bombay High Court, which overturned his acquittal by the trial court and convicted him in the case. The High Court awarded him a 10-year rigorous imprisonment sentence.
