Panaji, June 17 -- A late-night road accident was reported on the Bambolim-Panjim highway near Merces Circle on Tuesday at around 11:30 pm after a speeding car allegedly collided with a cow crossing the road.

According to sources, the Swift car struck the animal with significant force, resulting in the cow's death on the spot. The impact also left the driver with serious injuries.

The injured driver was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, while authorities reached the scene to manage traffic and initiate further investigation into the incident.

The accident once again highlights the growing concern over stray cattle on highways, which continue to pose a serious risk to motorists, especially during night-time hours.
