South Africa World Cup Midfielder Jayden Adams Dies at 25
Goa, July 11 -- South African international Jayden Adams has died at the age of 25, the country's sports ministry confirmed on Saturday. No cause of death has been disclosed.
Adams was part of the Bafana Bafana squad that made history by reaching the knockout stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup for the first time. The midfielder featured in all three group-stage matches, starting against Mexico and the Czech Republic before coming off the bench in South Africa's decisive 1-0 victory over South Korea, which secured a place in the Round of 16.
Although South Africa's memorable World Cup campaign ended with a defeat to Canada in the knockout stage, Adams emerged as one of the team's standout performers.
