Goa, June 3 -- Citizens for Democracy member Amar Gaonkar has alleged that officials from the Electricity Department made misleading statements to the media after a recent hearing before the Human Rights Commission on the smart meter issue. Gaonkar said the Commission had taken suo motu cognizance of the government's smart meter notification and accepted the group's intervention application.

He clarified that no final decision has been taken on the matter and that the case remains under active consideration. According to Gaonkar, the Human Rights Commission decided to keep the proceedings pending and has scheduled the matter for a future hearing.
