India, March 16 -- A 75-year-old retired resident of Chorao has reportedly been cheated of 1.31 lakh in a cyber fraud carried out by a man posing as a gas company officer. According to police, the accused contacted the elderly man and introduced himself as "Divesh," claiming to be an official connected with a gas service provider. He allegedly convinced the victim to install a mobile application on his phone under the pretext of completing a service-related process. During the process, the fraudster managed to gain access to the victim's banking details and carried out unauthorized transactions from his account.
