Sanguem Woman Loses Rs.1.47 Lakh After Fraudster Poses as Credit Card Official
Goa, Aug. 13 -- The caller allegedly promised to increase her credit card limit from Rs.2.14 lakh to Rs.3.14 lakh before asking her to share an OTP.
A woman from Sanguem was allegedly duped of Rs.1.47 lakh after an unidentified caller posed as a credit card official and offered to increase her card limit.
According to the complaint, the caller told the woman that her credit card limit could be raised from Rs.2.14 lakh to Rs.3.14 lakh. Believing the caller to be genuine, she followed the instructions and shared a one-time password (OTP) received on her mobile phone.
Soon after the OTP was disclosed, Rs.1.47 lakh was allegedly debited from her bank account. The incident was reported during proceedings in the Goa Legislative Assembly.
