Goa, July 14 -- Days after a major fire gutted five shops at Rivona Bazaar, the affected shop owners have urged the Goa government to provide immediate financial compensation to help them rebuild their businesses and support their families.

On Tuesday, Sanguem MLA Subash Phal Desai and leaders of the Goa Forward Party visited the affected traders to assess the damage and hear their grievances.

Goa Forward Party leader Vikas Bhagat appealed to the state government to extend full compensation to the fire victims, stating that adequate financial assistance is crucial for the shop owners to restart their businesses and recover from the heavy losses suffered in the blaze.
