Goa, May 29 -- Rishabh Pant has stepped down as the captain of Lucknow Super Giants after the team's disappointing IPL 2026 campaign. The franchise confirmed on Friday that Pant requested to be relieved of captaincy duties, and the management accepted the decision immediately.

Pant was signed for Rs 27 crore before IPL 2025, but LSG failed to qualify for the playoffs in both seasons under his leadership. Lucknow finished at the bottom of the IPL 2026 table with only four wins from 14 matches.

Pant also struggled with the bat during his two seasons with the franchise, scoring 581 runs in 28 matches.
