Removal of Shivaji Maharaj Statue at Headland Sada Deferred Over Law and Order Concerns
Goa, April 16 -- The Mormugao Port Authority has deferred its proposed removal of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj statue at Headland Sada, following a review meeting held on April 16, 2026.
The decision comes despite earlier plans to act in compliance with directions of the Bombay High Court. Officials said the move was postponed after assessing potential law and order issues and the need for adequate security arrangements.
The meeting, chaired by the district Collector and attended by police and other officials, concluded that the situation required further coordination before any action could be taken.
