Rain Forces India to Change Tactics as Galle Test Hangs in Balance
Goa, Aug. 16 -- Persistent rain forced India to rethink its plans on the second day of the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle, with only 43 overs possible on Sunday. India added 172 runs to their overnight total, eventually reaching 460 for nine, but the weather has complicated their hopes of securing a result.
Play was delayed until 2.35 pm because of repeated showers, with a total of 54 overs lost across the first two days. Having finished Day One at 288 for two, India would ideally have wanted to bat for a large part of the second day and build a massive first-innings total.
