Goa, July 23 -- Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday intensified his criticism of the Centre over the ongoing student protests, accusing the government of suppressing students who are raising genuine concerns and alleging that the country's education system has been compromised under the present administration.

Addressing a press conference at the Congress headquarters in New Delhi, Rahul Gandhi said students across the country were protesting for legitimate reasons but were being met with force instead of solutions.

He also launched a sharp attack on Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, describing him as "corrupt" and "incompetent", while renewing his demand for the minister's resignation.
