Goa, Aug. 10 -- Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge has urged the Centre to strengthen the mechanisms for resolving inter-state river disputes, stressing that water-sharing conflicts extend beyond the Cauvery, Krishna and Mhadei rivers.

Kharge called for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's intervention to address recurring disputes between states over the sharing and management of river waters.

He said the issue requires a broader and more effective mechanism to ensure that inter-state water disputes are resolved in a timely manner and do not continue to escalate between neighbouring states.
