Goa, June 17 -- The Goa government will waive off penalty charges imposed on electricity consumers, offering significant relief amid ongoing concerns over power bills.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant held a meeting with the Chief Electrical Engineer and other officials to discuss the issue.

Following the meeting, the CEE stated that all penalties would be withdrawn and that consumers who have already paid the additional charges would receive adjustments in their subsequent electricity bills. The government is expected to issue an official notification within the next two days. The decision forms part of a broader effort to address public complaints regarding high electricity bills.
