Goa, April 18 -- Ponda Police have registered an FIR in connection with an alleged case of misappropriation of gold ornaments at a financial institution in Ponda.

According to police sources, the incident is reported to have taken place between August and December 2022. Officials of the institution are accused of allegedly replacing pledged gold ornaments with spurious items and misappropriating the original valuables.

The complaint has raised serious concerns over the handling and security of pledged assets at financial institutions. Police have initiated an investigation to ascertain the extent of the alleged fraud and identify those responsible.

Further inquiries are underway.
