Goa, May 27 -- Deepak Dhavalikar, president of the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), has indicated that elections for the vacant Ponda Assembly constituency could take place earlier than expected, possibly within the next few months.

Speaking to the media, Dhavalikar said that the Ponda seat cannot remain vacant for a long period, although he clarified that no official decision regarding the election schedule has been announced so far.

He further stated that the MGP-led alliance, or "yuti," would collectively decide the future political course of action concerning the constituency.
