Panjim Mangrove Boardwalk Removed After Years of Neglect, Repair Cost Estimated at Rs.75 Lakh
Goa, May 27 -- The Mangrove Boardwalk developed under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) Mission and inaugurated in 2018 by late Francis D'Souza has been removed following severe deterioration caused by lack of maintenance.
The project, constructed at an approximate cost of Rs.2.27 crore using public funds, had been envisioned as a major eco-tourism and recreational attraction. However, over the years, the condition of the boardwalk reportedly worsened significantly due to neglect and inadequate upkeep.
Authorities noted that the structure had become unsafe, while reports of anti-social activities in the area also surfaced, raising concerns among local residents and visitors.
