North Goa Sessions Court Acquits Former Jailor Ravindranath Gaonkar in 2017 Property Dispute Case
Goa, June 25 -- The North Goa Sessions Court has set aside the conviction of 62-year-old former jailor Ravindranath Naik Gaonkar in connection with a 2017 property dispute case, citing significant inconsistencies in the prosecution's evidence.
In its judgment, the court pointed to gaps in the timeline of events, discrepancies in medical records that appeared to be predated, and unreliable witness testimony, all of which raised serious doubts about the prosecution's version of the incident.
After reviewing the evidence on record, the Sessions Court concluded that the prosecution had failed to establish the charges beyond reasonable doubt. As a result, the court quashed the earlier conviction and acquitted Gaonkar of all charges.
