Goa, Aug. 1 -- A Special POCSO Court in North Goa has convicted a 28-year-old man for the sexual assault of a 17-year-old girl and sentenced him to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment.

The conviction was based on witness testimony and medical evidence, which established that the accused sexually assaulted the minor in 2024. The assault resulted in the victim becoming pregnant.

After examining the evidence presented during the trial, the court found the accused guilty under the relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and imposed the 20-year prison sentence.
